Laser therapy is being used around the world in the treatment for hair loss for women and men. In European studies of LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy), 9 out of 10 people experienced successful results. Results include stopping of hair loss, hair regrowth, increase in quantity of hairs, and thickening of existing hairs. Ideal candidates will be in the beginning to middle stages of their hair loss. Although, there have been reports of success of for individuals in the later stages of their hair loss using laser hair treatment.
First discovered in 1967 a few years after the first working laser was invented, Endre Mester in Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary experimented with the effects of lasers on skin cancer. While applying lasers to the backs of shaven mice, he noticed that the shaved hair grew back more quickly on the treated group than the untreated group.
Fast forward to the present and new research has discovered laser light appearing to stimulate micro-circulation, decrease inflammation, improve cellular metabolism and protein synthesis. Furthermore, European studies suggest that LLLT increases blood and lymph circulation at the hair roots and stimulates follicular cells, which may cause hair to grow in thicker and stronger.
